OLD PEOPLE
12.18.04 (11:40 am)   [edit]

I have come to discover the greatest security force in the whole world are old people....especially old people in old people neighborhoods. My grandma reports to me when I get home about every person that walked down the sidewalk that day. All old people love to look out their windows and report to each other on the phone..."there's a man in your yard." "we have a new mailman." Even when some service comes to the house, three or four phones calls come in from the neighbors demanding an update. WOW GREAT JOB MCGRUFF!

The old lady that lived across from my parents used to peek out her window all the time, especially when a car stopped anywhere nearby. One day we went in the house and saw her doing that little corner-of-the-curtain peek move? We flung open the curtains and waved a big HI! at her. It wasn't well received.

that is so true... hopefully I won't be like that when I get older.... hopefully I will have more to do than just look at my window!

Well, guess that's one way to keep 'em busy - something to do.

LOL - you just described my parents! They could probably gather data for the city about how many ambulances go up and down the street adjascent to their house. Any phone call is a litany of who is driving/walking/flying by. You are so right!

LOL LOL LOL My mother and I were just talking today about the crazy things her 80+ year old neighbor tells my dad when he's doing yard work. She knows EVERYTHING! I wouldn't be surprised if she knew what kind of toothpaste everyone uses on the block. Great post!
